Vecchi libri Recuperati dalla discarica divengono vere e proprie opere d’arte nelle mani dell’artista americana Alexis Arnold.
Copie del National Geographic, guide telefoniche, Bibbie e libri Dalla copertina rigida vengono trasformati in scultura cristallizzate, perdendo l’Importanza del contenuto ed assumendo una forma del tutto nuova.
Oggetti meramente estetici dunque, non più funzionali, eppure estremamente significativi.
L’artista di San Francisco da sempre affascinata dalla “rappresentazione visiva del tempo” ha deciso di rappresentare attraverso la sua serie, ancora in corso di lavorazione, la crescita degli e-book ed il conseguente abbadoono delle biblioteche.
Bloccati in un preciso istante, durante un movimento, i suoi testi vengono piegati, arrotolati e spiegazzati, ed in seguito immersi in una soluzione di borace sche li arricchisce di cristalli. L’artista ha dichiarato in merito alle sue sculture: “La serie dei Crystallized libri parla della materialità del libro in Opposizione al testo o al Suo Contenuto, per Riflettere also sulla Vulnerabilità del libro Stampato,” e ancora, “I libri, cristallizzati, diventano artefatti o Campioni geologici permeati con la storia del tempo, degli usi e pieni di nostalgia.”

Some copies of National Geographic, phone books, Bibles and books with the hardcover are transformed into crystallized sculptures, losing the importance of the content assuming a new form.
Aesthetic objects, therefore, no longer functional, yet extremely significant.
The artist from San Francisco has always been fascinated from the “visual representation of time” , so she has
decided to represent through the series, still in the process of processing, the growth of e-books and the consequent abandonment of the libraries.
She takes the books in moving, folded, rolled texts, and after dip them in a solution of borax
that enriches them with crystals. The artist said in merit to her sculptures: “The series of Crystallized books speak of the materiality of the book in opposition to the text or to your Content toReflect anche Book Printed on Vulnerability,” and again, “The books, crystallized, become artifacts or geological samples permeated with the history of time”
